Why doesn’t God hear me?

I think it sad when the complaint that God has “failed to hear me” is uttered. For I know it isn’t true. God always hears us when we cry. The sad part is that usually we wait until we are hurting so badly or are having a major catastrophe in our life before we actually cry out to Him. He knows you and your situation even if you don’t give Him much of your time…and he He cares for you. Have you ever seen this?

               Psalms 139:1-8
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.  You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?  If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.                                    NKJV

If you were in pretty close communication with Him and really understood anything about Him, you would certainly know that knowing Him isn’t a promise of freedom from pain in your life, but rather a promise of comfort when the storm arrives. Image result for God, can you hear me?He will see you through the fiercest of life’s pain and suffering. But if you’re smart you will begin the relationship with  those who inhabit the world of the spirit prior to needing the comfort and planning which is available  for us when all hell breaks loose.

Jesus stated this in John 4:24
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”    NKJV

Here’s the problem: Many people do not understand that even in the world of the spirit, there are choices to be made. There is evil and there is good. If you aren’t in touch with the  good and light part of the world of the spirit, you are, by default, living within the world of evil and darkness. God is found only in light and He has left us specific instuctions on how He may be contacted…You know where they are found.

We who are called by His name, we who refer to ourselves as Christians, seem to take for granted that He is there, and we find ourselves sometimes ignoring the awesomeness of His power and His might, failing to give respect and honor when we come before Him in prayer and then……. how is it that we so seldom come before Him in prayer?

When you think about it, it is impossible, and it is a miracle that we should be able to come before Him at all. It is a miracle that he can create in we who have rejected Him in so many ways for so very long,  by our actions and our words, and even our thoughts, the desire to seek Him and then enables us to be forgiven by the very death of the one we murdered by those same selfish actions. It is truly a miracle.

But nothing is impossible for God. Nothing. A baby from a virgin, men brought back to life after being dead, feeding 5,000 people from a few fish and some pieces of bread….oh, and showing mercy to those who have insulted, maligned, attacked and hated Him.

Image result for seeking GodWant God to hear you? Just speak, and seek and ask and seek some more and read and pray and meditate and then…simply surrender. This is the only way to win a complete victory. Surrender your thoughts to Him, surrender your actions, surrender every word. As you learn to speak you will see that you also learn to hear Him. And when you hear Him you will realize that He has already heard you. He didn’t miss anything…..nothing, nada.

In fact later in Psalm 139 David states this wonderful fact:                      Psalms 139:17-18
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.                     NKJV

I think it wonderful that God would have thoughts of me. Another miracle and yet David states that He has a gazillion thoughts of me….and you. Pretty cool. God does hear you.Image result for Jesus whispering in your ear Every single time you cry out to Him. But when He answers, it is sometimes not the answer we want. We may not be healed, we may not get that job, we may have to suffer another month or even for the rest of our time on this earth. The one we love may pass from our presence.

But take heart. God hears you and he is planning what you need to prosper in your eternity. He’s trying to tell you what you should do…are you listening? Maybe that is the problem….just sayin’!

  1. Thank you again for the word you shared. After suffering for 4 years with chronic illnesses, I have been learning a lot about surrendering and giving everything to God and praising him despite not being healed. To be honest, during this time, I have grown closer to him. Thank you again for these words of comfort and encouragement. God bless you.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Tanya. I will keep you in my prayers and bring you before the Lord. I guess you have already learned that His grace is sufficient for you. What a wonderful gift to have heard His voice in that way. Some never do. Blessings, my friend, David

    2. Tanya, I am so very pleased that God spoke to you through me. I am always amazed at how He works in the lives of those who love Him. (never surprised, though) I hope your pain subsides and your illness is overcome. It sounds like you have overcome it through Christ, but it would be good to know it will stop. I will keep you in prayer, and thank you for your kind words. I apologize for not replying sooner. Life took over for a while…
