Is it real?

I have been contemplating the cross a bit more than usual lately. Recently a friend of mine began a Facebook page about the cross. https://www.facebook.com/groups/crucianis/

I enjoy this, seeing posts regarding the cross and its importance in our lives. We all need to look toward the cross of Christ, the cross we must carry, the crosses of life. Many would ask why, but those are the ones who do not understand the sacrifice of the cross. And the only reason they do not understand that sacrifice is because they have not experienced death themselves.Related image

Here’s the problem: Nobody wants to die……. Nobody.

We must look very hard at the sacrifice of Jesus. We must picture in our mind’s eye that horrible torture and suffering. Got it? Does it sicken you? Does it make you cry out and weep? It should….if for no other reason, simply because it was meant for you. Jesus went through that so you and I would not have to. When you understand that sacrifice, the courage it took to endure it, when you really believe it, when it becomes real to you….that’s when you can begin to contemplate your own cross.

You see many think that when Jesus said in Luke 9:23-24 (and other places)
…. “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.               NKJV

that he meant they must suffer through those things God allows in their lives. Related imageAlthough that may be true, it’s not what is meant by this statement. The cross is an implement of death.  Those to whom he spoke these words knew exactly what He was saying. We must die every single day to our sin, our darkness, our ability to cause pain and our pride. We must become humble servants and turn only toward the light of the love of Jesus. His death should now become our life. The only way that can happen is if you die yo yourself and allow Jesus to guide you in all you do. Everything.

So is it real to you?

I guarantee that the death you experience at the acknowledgment of the cross of Christ is the only one that will have you leaping into the air for joy on a regular basis.

Agalliao!
