“Learning to Agalliao is one of those “teaching” books that one can actually learn from and apply to everyday life. You will see how you can become a live instrument in God’s orchestra by using what He gives you through The Holy Spirit, you will learn how to discern the Word of God and how to filter the worldly rhetoric and how to apply God’s Word to your everyday life as a demonstration to yourself and others so that you can lovingly disciple and not agitate the non-believer to Jesus and The Word of God…. ” John S. Indianapolis, Indiana
“Regardless if you have just begun your walk with God or have been on the path a long time, “Learning to Agalliao” is beautifully written and scripture based covering every step for all travelers.” ……….Bobbie Burnett, Show Low, Az.
Learning to Agalliao is a book about relationships, but not necessarily the way you might think. We have relationships with other people of course, but we also have relationships with situations, animals, and a host of other things. Some relationships last for a lifetime, while others are momentary and fleeting. But the most important relationship we can have is with God. Because God is unlike any other being, our relationship with Him will be unlike any other relationship, and will affect every other relationship we have and will determine how we respond, not only to others in our life, but also to situations and events that are both wonderful and tragic. Jesus told us in
Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” NKJV
The Greek word interpreted “exceedingly glad” is agalliao. It literally means to jump for joy. Do you think it strange that Jesus told us we should jump for joy when we are reviled, mocked, and persecuted in His name? There are eleven total appearances of the word “Agalliao” in the New Testament. Another one that is difficult to fathom is found in:
1Peter 1:6-9 “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith — the salvation of your souls. ” NKJV
Both the words interpreted “greatly rejoice” and “you rejoice” are the word Agalliao. I promise you that this can only be done, (jumping for joy or owning exceedingly great joy) during times of persecution or times of trial if we have a relationship with God. In fact it is pretty difficult to have great joy even when you do have a relationship with Him. But the time to develop that relationship is not during a crisis or even after a crisis. If you want to own joy during a time of trouble, you need to understand two things. First, joy is not the appearance of happiness and secondly, God is able to bring you through the trouble and pain in which you find yourself.
Learning to Agalliao is about understanding the difference between joy and happiness and how to develop that deep and wonderful relationship with the God of the universe which He desires to have with every single person on the face of the earth. He has opened the door and invites all of us to walk through it. But sometimes our grief or our pain prevents us from entering. The time to develop this relationship is before difficulties and/or tragedy arrives.
