So we have a vision and now we have an understanding of how very important it is to develop that vision if we are to grow as Christians, or for that matter, do anything in life. We must envision ourselves in a position of owning already what we desire to be. If you want to become a hall of fame hitter, you will not have a vision of yourself sitting on the bench. If you want to become a millionaire, you never picture yourself living in a cardboard box in an alley. And if you want to become a disciple of Christ, owning the heart of Jesus, you must have a vision of yourself being in just such a state, of being like Christ, owning His attributes that show love. The vision is all important.
But how do we get there? We must progress to the next step. It has to be more than merely having the vision, for as important as that may be, if that is all you have then you might just as well sit in your sandbox all day for you will never hit a home run, sell a widget, have a meaningful conversation with the Lord, or assist someone else or yourself in the quest for spiritual growth.
